About the Author

Welcome!

I’m Kendra Vaughan—author, beach wanderer, and quiet believer in the kind of magic that lingers beneath the surface of everyday life.

I write Magical. Mystical. Meaningful. fiction rooted in the fictional coastal town of Plymbury, Massachusetts—a place where sea glass carries stories, wishes sometimes come true, and transformation unfolds in unexpected ways.

Though Plymbury is fictional, it’s inspired by the real coastal towns I’ve called home. I raised my family in one beach town, then moved to another when my children graduated—choosing the rhythm of tide and sky once again. There’s something about these New England shores—their stillness, their pull—that continues to shape how I see the world. That sense of place lives in every story I tell.

My debut novel, The Plymbury Witch, became a Top 10 Fiction Bestseller at Barnes & Noble Hingham and was recognized as a Top 5 title in Fiction / Magical Realism on IngramSpark. I also hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. Before stepping into fiction full-time, I worked with Simon & Schuster as a freelance copy editor, acquisitions editor, and ghostwriter, contributing to spiritual and New Age titles that helped shape my deep respect for soulful storytelling.

When I’m not writing, you can find me walking Luna (my sweet Havanese), chasing after our mischievous kitten Nutmeg, creating gluten- and dairy-free comfort food, or sipping black tea while reading a book that leaves a little magic behind.

I believe in slow stories with soul, quiet magic, emotional resonance, and endings that leave a lingering light.

If you’re looking for stories that whisper instead of shout—ones that walk beside you instead of pushing ahead—welcome to Plymbury.
