Monday Microburst: A Spell in the Sand
Magical. Mystical. Meaningful. Monday Microburst
Every week, I’ll share a tiny tale from Plymbury—the coastal New England town where all my stories live. These moments are short enough to read over morning coffee or tea, yet just long enough to leave a trace of magic in your day. I hope they become a small ritual you look forward to each Monday.

A Spell in the Sand
Every Halloween, the tide left something strange along the Plymbury shore—shells arranged in spirals, driftwood wands, even a trail of seaweed that shimmered like a spell. Most folks said it was just the wind. But some said that on the eve when the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest, it was a reminder that the Sea Glass Apothecary’s magic was still humming—alive and listening.
They said a sea glass star dressed like a witch stirred a cauldron at low tide, brewing laughter and courage for anyone brave enough to dream. Fishermen claimed they’d seen the star-shaped shadow dancing across the dunes beneath the Halloween moon.
No one ever caught her, of course. By morning, only a hat remained, tipped sideways in the sand beside a small glowing cauldron that wafted the scent of wishes into the air.
Still, if you walk the shore on Halloween eve and listen closely, you might hear her whisper through the waves—reminding Plymbury that even the tiniest spark of magic can light the darkest night.
